Whose fault

Not long ago, a friend of mine who immigrated to a certain country, Ms. Tian and his wife, returned to China to visit relatives. She worriedly told me about her brother Tian Jie’s illness in the United States, and hoped that I could take her to see the old monk Miaofa and ask for advice on the cause of the disease when she returned to China. (Ms. Tian’s family converted to Buddha as early as 1993 and has always supported the cause of spreading Buddhism.)

After meeting Master, Ms. Tian introduced her brother’s condition in detail.

After Tian Jie went to a certain country to obtain a green card, he married a local Chinese woman. Life was relatively happy at first. Later, for some reason, he suspected that a colleague who was close to him used electronic means to harm him from a distance, causing him a headache and general discomfort. So he didn’t dare to go to work anymore and stayed at home. But he still felt that his colleagues were attacking him with electronic instruments. He said that if he had not practiced qigong before and had some skills, he would have been killed long ago. When others asked why his colleagues wanted to harm him, he said they were jealous of his talent. In fact, his computer skills benefited from that person’s help.

Because he was worried and had trouble sleeping and eating, he covered the walls of his room with tin foil, saying it could block electronic interference. He also made a large iron box with ventilation holes. He would lie in it and close the lid when sleeping. After a few days, I still felt that I couldn’t resist the electronic interference, so I put a metal basin on my head and hid in the corner or under the bed. I was always in extreme fear and almost had a mental breakdown. The doctor said he suffered from paranoid psychosis and prescribed medicine for him, but he refused to take it and said he was not sick.

However, Ms. Tian was very afraid that if her brother’s illness worsened, the consequences would be disastrous. Because she knew that her cousin and a child from her third uncle’s family had suffered from the same delusional psychosis a few years ago. Her cousin had already committed suicide, and although her third uncle’s child was still alive, she had been living in Anding Hospital for many years. . Now that the same disease has happened to his younger brother, it cannot be solved by injections and medicine. She wanted to seek advice from the old monk Miaofa. Whose fault was this? Why are three generations of father and brother suffering from the same disease? Will it be passed on to the next generation in the future?

The old monk Miaofa said to Ms. Tian: “One of your grandfather’s generation was a literati who liked to write ghost and horror novels as a pastime. The novels he wrote made people feel frightened, suspicious, and unable to sleep at night. Some teenagers , after reading this kind of novel, a shadow of terror is left in my heart. Some people are afraid of the dark and dare not walk at night. Some people are even frightened by certain phenomena and sounds in special environments, causing illness or death. Such is the cause, such is the effect, because the novel spreads among the people, causing harm to generations of readers, and ultimately harming one’s own descendants.

“The more people like to read novels, the longer they will be circulated. Good books bring knowledge and happiness to people, and can encourage people to make progress. They teach people to be filial to relatives, respect teachers, and abide by the law. For example, Master Confucius lived in poverty all his life and devoted himself to benevolence and righteousness. Although the education of Li Zhixin was not accepted by the political power at that time, it was valued more and more in the future, and all dynasties even respected Confucius as a saint. The descendants of Yan and Huang have been nourished by Confucian culture for generations. The Confucian family has been passed down for seventy years. Being respected by others for generations, this is called good deeds. On the contrary, writing novels, dramas, TV shows, movies, etc. that are horrific, pornographic, and obscene and instructive not only harms today’s society, but also harms future generations. We might as well Recall some screenwriters, directors, and even actors who have committed suicide, were killed, or had car accidents reported by the media. You will know what works they have appeared in the world and what actions they have been reported in the newspapers. Karma is not good at all. Therefore, those who hold the pen must understand the cause and effect, and should not just make money, covet temporary happiness, and leave endless troubles for future generations. You must know: Even if there are thousands of happiness, impermanence will eventually come, everything If you don’t take the generals away, you will leave harm to future generations. It’s better to harm others than yourself. May I ask, Ms. Tian, if any of your ancestors wrote horror novels?”

“My family’s background is relatively complicated. When I was a child, I rarely knew about my grandfather’s situation. One was because we were far apart, and the other was political reasons. As for the situation of my ancestors, I knew even less. I only occasionally heard my mother talk about it when I grew up. I know that I My father came from a large and scholarly family. My grandfather and great-grandfather were both bachelors in the Qing Dynasty. It was an aunt in my family who first translated “Shakespeare” or some other great writer’s novel into Chinese. As for who wrote it? I don’t know about horror novels, but in a family that has been literate for generations, this is very possible. I firmly believe in what you just said, otherwise why would there be three mentally disturbed people in my family one after another. I feel very sad now. I’m afraid, who knows when those ghosts and horror novels will disappear from the world? Isn’t this terrible disease going to be passed down from generation to generation! Please tell me, father, is there any way to save my brother? Is there any way to end this inheritance? “

Master smiled and replied: “You don’t have to be afraid. Now that I have revealed this matter, if there is no solution, wouldn’t it make you worry more? What I just talked about is the big cause and effect. Specific to individuals suffering from this disease, He must have done the same evil in his previous life, such as frightening others and causing illness and death. He was reincarnated into such a family in this life and integrated into the family’s karma. Because you encounter the Dharma, you can believe it, and you can still do it. You have done your best to support Buddhism, so you have accumulated blessings for your family and established a relationship with Buddhism. Therefore, there is hope for your brother to recover. Are you not vegetarian yet?”

“Yes, Master.”

“Then after you go back, can you make up your mind to eat a long fast?”

“No problem, Master.”

“Okay, you can hold a Dharma meeting in the temple to save all those who have been frightened and hurt by reading horror novels, and repent on behalf of your ancestors who have written such novels. Then, you can recite ten “” “Surangama Sutra” can be dedicated to all sentient beings in the Dharma Realm, and with this merit, the sins and karma of the ancestors can be eliminated. No one in the family will suffer from this disease in the future. In addition, offer a cup of water in front of the Buddha every day, and ask your brother to sincerely recite “Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva” every day. “Men Pin” once, recite the Great Compassion Mantra three times, and then drink it, your brother’s spirit will gradually improve. The few horror novels that still exist in the world will disappear for some reason with the blessing of Buddha’s power, and the cause of the disease will be eliminated. In addition, the disease will be completely cured.”

Ms. Tian respectfully took note of the matters instructed by Master Miaofa.

Now Ms. Tian has gone back. I don’t know yet whether her brother’s condition has improved. Because there are no examples of cause and effect in this regard in the stories I have encountered, I wrote it down first for the convenience of fellow practitioners. At the same time, I also hope that through this text, the public can be enlightened. I would like to dedicate this merit to Mr. Tian Jie and wish him a speedy recovery.

Sharing this article is Dharma giving. The Buddha said that Dharma giving has immeasurable merits.
