Braised pig trotters

If you don’t want to get sick, your mind must be pure.

All living beings have feelings, and we need to cherish our lives and protect them.

A female lay practitioner asked the old monk Miaofa for advice: “My mother-in-law is in Taiwan and has no physical illness. However, whenever she goes out and walks less than a hundred meters, her ankles will feel sore and tired. She must sit down and rest for a while before walking. For this reason, I visited several major hospitals in Taiwan and the United States, but couldn’t find anything wrong, so I asked Master for enlightenment.”

“Does your mother-in-law like to eat braised pig’s trotters?”

“Yes, Master, how do you know? My mother-in-law eats braised pig’s trotters every day, otherwise she won’t be able to sleep at night.” Tears flowed from her eyes, and her voice sounded very excited.

“Tell your mother-in-law not to eat pig’s trotters in the future. If she can repent and eat vegetarian food and recite Buddha’s name every day, she will gradually get better.”

The female lay practitioner asked again: “Why can’t pig’s trotters be eaten?”

“This is the cause and effect. People who often eat fish eyes will suffer from eye diseases. People who often eat chicken necks will also have problems with their cervical vertebrae. People who often eat pig bellies will get stomach problems. It is wrong to say that what you eat is what you eat. It’s just like hurting others to benefit oneself, it’s just a temporary pleasure, but in the end it hurts others and hurts oneself, and you have to pay back double.”
