Good and evil are rewarded

I suddenly remembered a story about rescuing animals and harming animals, and decided to add it in so that beginners can have a clear understanding.

It was the winter of the second year after I became a master. At that time, the old monk Miaofa was staying at my house. One day my aunt called me from Xi’an and told me that the road was icy after snow half a month ago. She was walking in the courtyard of the factory and accidentally fell to the ground. Because her right knee landed first, the patella of her right knee was comminuted. She suffered a fracture and was sent to the hospital. When she was in the ward during the operation, she discovered that there were seven people living in this hospital including her factory and her aunt. Except for one person who had a fractured hip bone, the others all had fractures. The comminuted fracture of the patella was limited by the medical conditions at the time. After the operation, everyone was told that there would be functional impairment in the future, and the bending function of the leg would not be fully restored. My aunt was very distressed about this, and she was discharged from the hospital and went home to recuperate after 3 days. My aunt was only in her forties at that time. How sad it would be if she really became disabled.

She didn’t know about my Buddhist studies, nor did she know about the old monk Miaofa. She just called me to tell me because she was distressed. Because Master was in the room when we talked, I deliberately repeated the situation of my aunt’s fracture word for word. In fact, I was telling Master. When Master indicated that I wanted to talk to her, I briefly told my aunt about my fate with Master. Because Xi’an was in the era of “Qigong craze” at that time, and my aunt was also an active participant in Qigong practice, she believed me when I told her about it and was willing to ask Master to enlighten her. So I handed the phone to Master.

After Master answered the phone, he asked my aunt if she had set the bones of a white pigeon with a broken leg four years ago. My aunt seemed to get excited when she heard the question. I could hear her voice next to her: “Yeah. , Master! This is what happened. One day four years ago, I went to visit a colleague’s house. As soon as I entered her small courtyard, I saw more than ten pigeons cooing around a crooked pigeon outside the pigeon nest in her courtyard. The ground screamed, and I stepped forward curiously to see that the pigeon’s leg was broken. I called my colleague’s name and held the injured pigeon in my hands. When my colleague arrived, we observed that the pigeon was slingshot After flying home after the injury, I asked my colleagues to get anti-inflammatory alcohol, a bag of erythromycin eye ointment, and a wooden board. We used a knife to cut three small wooden strips to use as splints. After straightening and disinfecting the broken leg, we put it on. After applying ointment and splinting, the pigeon’s leg really grew back. Master, your kung fu is really amazing. You know what happened to me a few years ago. Does this have anything to do with my leg?” The master asked again: “Do you like to eat roasted chicken, and you often break the legs of the roasted chicken at the knees and chew the skin on the chicken’s feet?” “Yes, Master, I like to eat it.”

The master continued: “The chicken you bought from the market that has been killed was also disemboweled in the kitchen, broke off the legs of the chicken, chopped it with a knife, fried, fried and stewed. Because of this Reason, that’s why you fractured your patella. This is called evil retribution. Because you have treated the pigeon’s leg injury and made it recover, so your leg injury will not have any sequelae. After removing the splint, you need to strengthen the knee joint. Exercise and you will recover slowly.” The aunt asked obviously happily: “If I break the chicken’s legs, I will suffer the retribution of a broken leg. If I disembowel the chicken, will I be disemboweled by the hospital for some disease in the future? The master smiled and said, “You are very enlightened. Ask your nephew to send you some Buddhist books to learn from.”

This is the true story of my aunt. Her leg recovered completely and she is now a devout Buddhist.

Taking advantage of this story, I will write down the “warning words about disease from the mouth” in the previous book “Modern Cause and Effect” here for the convenience of readers of this book:

Warning about disease coming from the mouth

Stewing meat and frying fish is to satisfy the craving, but I don’t know if the animals are unwilling to do so.

The kitchen turned into a slaughterhouse, and people were disemboweled and went to the mountain of knives.

Frying, frying, and frying are all punishments, but eating them alive and chewing them is a delicious meal.

If your spiritual consciousness resides in you, sooner or later you will have to take your life back.

Good and evil will be rewarded in the end. Don’t wait until illness comes from the mouth.

Soon he became full of evil and was hospitalized due to illness.

The scene of disembowelment, disembowelment and scissors is reproduced in the kitchen.

If I had known that I would go to hell today, why would I have been so greedy in the first place?

It is not too late to learn Buddhism now, practice vegetarianism and recite Buddha’s name to repent of past mistakes.

You should put an end to killing, stealing, sexual immorality, and get rid of suffering and find happiness before your eyes.

Achieve the supreme consciousness of Bodhisattva

A young lay couple asked the old monk Miaofa for advice. They said that after converting to Buddhism, they gave up chicken, duck, fish, meat and eggs without any trouble. They also gave up alcohol and tobacco one after another, but they only gave up lust. Although they tried several times, they failed. The male layman said that whenever lust arose in his heart, he would recite “Namo Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva” silently in his heart, but it would eventually be replaced by lustful thoughts. Afterwards, he would feel distressed and asked the old monk for advice.

Master’s instructions: Your ability to practice diligently is amazing. The reason why the lotus is holy is that it can emerge from the mud without being stained. When Sakyamuni Buddha left his beloved wife and son to become a monk, he actually showed us the only way to become a Buddha. If a lay person can give up desires, he will be no different from a monk, and he will become a model for practitioners in the world and beyond.

Reciting the holy name of Guanyin Bodhisattva can help you stop your lustful thoughts. However, it is not necessary to seek help from Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva only when lustful thoughts have arisen in the heart. Instead, one should “constantly recite Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva in normal times, and then one will be free from desire.”

The most important thing is to understand the reason first and understand the reason why we should stop lust. “Understanding the truth is the matter” – once you understand the truth and then put it into practice, you will achieve success naturally. “The truth is clear at the moment”, and then you can understand the truth during practice, so that it will be more reliable. Therefore, it is recommended that you memorize the “Four Pure and Clear Instructions” of the Surangama Sutra, starting from “The Buddha told Ananda, you have always heard me proclaim the meaning of practicing the Three Decisions in Vinaya”. Why do you need to memorize it? Once you memorize it, you can recite it silently or quietly at any time during your free time. You can use it when taking a walk in the morning or evening, riding a bicycle, or taking a bus. It takes about ten minutes to recite it once, at least once a day, but more often is better. Especially before going to bed, you must recite it once.

It can also be recited as a daily lesson when you first start learning. The original morning and evening lessons can also be replaced by the “Four Pure and Clear Instructions” (referring to lay people). If you can recite it aloud, not only will you benefit, but also all invisible sentient beings around you. I will also kneel down and listen to your chanting, and everyone will benefit. Then you will naturally have immeasurable merit. After practicing like this for three months, you will definitely “defeat the urge for sexual desire, break off your body and mind, and no longer have sexual desire.” “There will be no more sexual desire”, which means that you will no longer even have the thought that you have given up sexual desire. What is born with the times is a state of relaxation, freedom, and full of Dharma joy, but it cannot be described in words. This is a holy state that can only be experienced by those who have given up sexual desire.

After achieving this kind of “dissolution of mind and body”, you can no longer recite the “Four Pure Teachings” (of course you can also keep them throughout your life), because the Buddha’s teachings have been engraved in your heart.

Only then will I realize that I was wrong in thinking that “the most wonderful thing in the world is lust.” Lust brings people only fleeting pleasure, not happiness, because of the ensuing fatigue and exhaustion, which is not happiness but pain, not to mention the resulting diseases, conflicts between husband and wife, divorce, and even death. , all stem from strong lust.

Lust is for the continuation of mankind, and it is only natural. Apart from this, one should exercise moderation and restraint, and practitioners must get rid of it, because “if the lust of lust is not eliminated, the dust cannot come out.”

Some people occasionally experience nocturnal emissions for a considerable period of time after abstaining from sexual desire. This is a normal phenomenon and should be ignored as it will disappear naturally.

“Exhausted” actually refers to people who have too much lust, which is not only harmful to health, but also shortens their life span.

“Nursing energy and recharging energy” means that people who have given up sexual desire will not only have a strong body, but also the essence in their body will be accumulated into extremely hard relics. The longer the period of abstinence, the more relics will be left after death and cremation. Relics are regarded as sacred objects by Buddhas and Bodhisattvas, and those who sincerely worship them will benefit a lot.

Therefore, if a practitioner can abstain from sexual intercourse, killing, and stealing, he will surely be able to “achieve the supreme consciousness of a Bodhisattva.”

Sharing this article is Dharma giving. The Buddha said that Dharma giving has immeasurable merits.
