Buddhist scripture knowledge

Six sense organs: eyes, ears, nose, tongue, body, and mind. The eyes are the root of seeing, the ears are the root of hearing, the nose is the root of smell, the tongue is the root of taste, the body is the root of contact, and the mind is the root of thought. Six roots give rise to six consciousnesses.

The six dusts: color, sound, smell, taste, touch, and law are the six realms that contaminate the six sense organs. Color stains the eyes, sound stains the ears, fragrance stains the nose, taste stains the tongue, touch stains the body, and Dharma stains the mind.

Six consciousnesses: eye consciousness, ear consciousness, nose consciousness, tongue consciousness, body consciousness, and consciousness. The six realms contaminate the six sense organs. Seeing, hearing, smelling, tasting, and body sensation are other things that come from consciousness. Once the consciousness is activated, the door to boundless worldly labor is opened, that is, the door to the Six Paths is created by creating all kinds of sins.

The Eightfold Path is: Right View, Right Intention, Right Speech, Right Action, Right Livelihood, Right Effort, Right Mindfulness, and Right Concentration.

The three unwholesome qualities are the three poisons: greed, anger, and ignorance.

The Four Confusions: The four confounding and delusional views of ordinary people. That is, regard impermanence as permanent, suffering as happiness, selflessness as self, and impurity as purity.

Five Nis: Five kinds of sins that are extremely contrary to the principles. That is, killing one’s father, killing one’s mother, killing an Arhat, bleeding the Buddha, and destroying the harmony of the Sangha. Among them, breaking the harmony of monks is the most serious. why? Because Buddhism is passed down by monks. If you only commit the sin of breaking the harmony of the monks, you will not be able to enter the sainthood. Sitting in meditation, learning, reading scriptures, worshiping and repenting, etc. will not lead to wisdom, so it is the most serious.

The Ten Evils: Killing, stealing, sexual immorality, lying, harsh words, idle talk, double-tongue, greed, anger, and ignorance.

Eight kinds of suffering: the suffering of birth, the suffering of old age, the suffering of illness, the suffering of death, the suffering of not getting what you want (anything you want but not getting is suffering), the suffering of separation from love (the people and things you love will never be separated), the suffering of resentment and hatred (no matter where you go) , even in your own family there will be unsatisfactory people around you), and the five aggregates are full of suffering (the five aggregates are called the five yin. That is, there is always unexplained fire in the five aspects of form, feeling, thought, action and consciousness).

Twenty-five You: If there is a cause, there must be a result, and the result is also called existence. The fruits of the three realms are divided into twenty-five categories, named twenty-five existences. The twenty-five existences include fourteen existences in the desire realm, seven existences in the form realm, and four existences in the formless realm, for a total of twenty-five existences. The fourteen realms of desire include the four evil realms, the four continents, and the six heavens of desire. There are seven fingers in the form realm, four Zen heavens, plus Brahma heaven, pure dwelling heaven, and non-thinking heaven. The four existences of the formless realm are the four empty places.
