Buddhists cannot eat eggs

Many Buddhist disciples have given up eating meat for many years, but they still eat eggs, duck eggs, etc. So, should Buddhist disciples eat these eggs?

Let me tell you a true story first:The story of women eating eggs

At a Dharma conference, lay practitioner Chen brought her colleague Xiao Lin. Xiao Lin is about 35 years old. His thin face is yellow-grey and he looks very haggard. Since this was the first time she met Teacher Guo Qing, her eyes were full of joy and desire. She was pious and focused during the listening process.

When Teacher Guoqing asked Xiao Lin if she had any questions, she suddenly became so nervous that her face flushed and she couldn’t say anything. With Chen Jushi’s addition, everyone understood: It turns out that Xiao Lin, who has been married for ten years, is very eager to have a child. But no matter how much I prayed to God for medical treatment, I never got pregnant. I was lucky enough to meet Teacher Guo Qing today and asked for some advice.

Teacher Guo Qing sympathized with her and sighed deeply because of this “unable to get anything”. She turned to me and said, “Guo Hong, come and see why she doesn’t have children?” I looked up. I glanced at Xiao Lin, and when I met her longing eyes, I couldn’t help but sigh: “Do you like eating eggs very much? Especially small quail eggs?”

“Yes, I like eating quail eggs in bunches. This…” There was obvious doubt in the tone of the second half of the sentence. The considerate layman Chen stood by and asked her: “Everyone thinks eggs are nutritious food, and before we encountered Buddhism, everyone was eating eggs. Why can’t Xiaolin get pregnant?”

I looked at Teacher Guoqing next to me. The teacher’s affirmative and encouraging eyes made me continue: The Buddha said that eating birds’ eggs is a sign of lack of compassion. When the Master Xuanhua gave a lecture on the issue of eating eggs, he once said to the questioner humorously and seriously: “If you are not afraid of being a chicken and laying eggs for others to eat in your next life, you can eat any eggs.” Because cause and effect are complex, everyone’s merits and destinies are different. Although they are all eating eggs, everyone’s retribution is not the same. If you want to have children, you must eliminate all meat and fish, including of course all eggs, release more animals, and recite the Ksitigarbha Sutra to dedicate it to the living beings you have eaten.

After I said this, I looked at Xiaolin again, and I felt that she didn’t fully believe it. She originally wanted to hear a cause-and-effect story about her infertility, but after the truth was revealed, she thought it was an ordinary thing, so she was a little disappointed. I was very sorry that Xiao Lin could not accept what he heard, so I said more directly: “You just want to have a child now. Have you ever thought that the eggs and duck eggs you eat are the hard-working mothers of chickens and ducks?” A child born of hardship!”

At this time, Teacher Guo Qing said to Xiao Lin: “The principles of cause and effect that Guo Hong told you are correct. You should follow her instructions carefully and you will attract good children. It is best for your lover to follow her instructions.” You cultivate together.”

At this time, Teacher Guo Qing told a true story: There was a female section chief of the Institute of Biology. Her daughter had been married for four years and had no children. She used her professional knowledge to guide her daughter and son-in-law in medical treatment, but she was helpless. The results made her doubt her scientific research theory. The sad look on the female section chief’s frown made people sigh, “How pitiful the hearts of parents in the world are.” I told her: ‘Your daughter and son-in-law both like to eat eggs, and quail eggs are their favorite. This is their common cause of not having children. If they want to have children, they must eat vegetarian food, free animals, chant sutras, and do more good deeds. ’ In the following six months, the female section chief’s daughter and son-in-law followed this method seriously, and now her daughter is pregnant.

As soon as Teacher Guo Qing finished telling her story, lay doctor Li asked me why there were so many patients coming to the hospital for treatment of secondary infertility (they were pregnant but had an abortion, and now they want to have children but cannot). Let me tell you, every child who comes to be reincarnated has a deep connection with his parents. In the long river of reincarnation, the chance of being reincarnated as a human being is very small, but these parents do it very casually due to various reasons. I went for an abortion, but I didn’t know that I had committed a serious crime similar to killing an Arhat. In addition, I killed and ate meat wantonly, and the excessive killing karma would trigger the evil retribution of annihilating my descendants. I saw Xiao Lin and others nodding their heads in agreement. I was really happy that Xiao Lin could wake up to something. I hope that with the blessing of Buddha, she could change her ways, practice the precepts, and have a son soon!

Half a year later, Master Chen who brought her here told me on the phone: Xiaolin followed our instructions and is now pregnant. Thank you very much.

The story of the emperor eating eggs

There are many similar examples in history indicating that eggs are inedible. For example, “Fayuan Zhulin” records that Yu Wenyong, Emperor Wu of Zhou Dynasty in the Southern and Northern Dynasties, liked to eat eggs and ate several in one meal. There was a cook who cooked for Emperor Wu. After Emperor Wu’s death, he continued to serve as the cook for Emperor Wen of Sui Dynasty. One day, the cook suddenly died violently. He revived three days later. He recounted his experience and said: He When he arrived in Hell, he saw Emperor Wu and the King of Hell. The King of Hell asked the chef: “How many eggs do you cook for Emperor Wu in a day?” The chef told the truth: “I don’t keep count.” The King of Hell said: “Since you don’t keep count, how many eggs do you cook in a day?” Emperor Wu can find out.” At this time, dozens of guards with bull-headed bodies in front of the court pulled Emperor Wu down on the iron bed and pressed him with iron beams. Emperor Wu’s sides split open and more than ten eggs fell out – the cause and effect was clear. Sooner or later there will be a day of reckoning, and those who are still eating eggs should wake up as soon as possible. The “Buddha’s Sutra on the Retribution of Sinful Karma, Enlightenment and Transformation of Hell” tells that one of the causes and conditions of the Hell of Fire City is “chicken simmered in fire”: “There are living beings who always stay in the city of fire, simmering their hearts together, with all four doors open. If you want to go to , the door is closed, running east and west, unable to avoid it, it is burned up by the fire. What sin is caused? The Buddha said: In the previous life, he burned mountains and rivers, simmered chickens, burned other villages, boiled all living beings, and their bodies were rotten and skinned. , so I received this crime.” We Buddhist disciples should follow the teachings and never regret it until the retribution appears.

Some people say that there are no roosters in breeding farms and that eggs on the market will not be alive if they are not fertilized. This is used as an excuse to eat eggs. This view was denounced by Master Yinguang. The letter said: “Eggs are not edible! People with wrong views say that eggs without male eggs are edible. Don’t listen to them.” “There has been a long-standing lawsuit over whether chicken eggs are edible, but sensible people will never think so. Food is the way to go. Those who like to eat, if they argue cleverly, they will actually show their stupidity. Why? It is said that if there are male eggs, they cannot be eaten alive, and if there are no male eggs, they will not produce chicks and can be eaten. If it is like what is said, Then living things cannot be eaten, but dead things can be eaten. Is this reasonable? This kind of wrong view is common among smart people. I don’t know that they are all showing off their wisdom for the sake of food and drink, which arouses the pity of sensible people.” Why do you say there is no such thing? Can’t we eat fertilized eggs? Because the Buddha clearly told all his disciples in the Surangama Sutra: “Submit your identity. It is all for that purpose. Just like a person eating hundreds of grains in the ground, he will not leave the ground. It will make the body and mind. It will be like a body to all living beings.” Identity. The two paths of mind and body are not obeyed and do not eat. I say that people are truly liberated. As I say this. It is called Buddha’s saying. Don’t say it like this. That is Bo Xun’s saying. “Eggs come from the part of the animal body, and want to be pure and liberated.” Buddhist practitioners are not allowed to eat it.

final thoughts

I advise everyone not to eat eggs just for the sake of good taste and nutrition. On the road of studying Buddhism for more than 20 years, I have met many people who are guilty of eating eggs (including damaging bird eggs, snake eggs, and eating unformed eggs in hens). ) and women who suffer from infertility or frequent miscarriages have no way to seek help, so they have no choice but to repent in front of the Buddha according to the method I mentioned, abstain from eating meat, eggs and five kinds of meat, and recite one to two Ksitigarbha Sutras every day. Dedicated to the eaten eggs and the animal mothers who laid them, most of them became pregnant within three months and became healthier. I hope all my friends who are in poor health and those who are not going well in their careers and families will follow this method and something incredible will happen to you within three months. Not only will you not spend a penny, but you will also save a lot of money. Why not Why?
