Why should we be superstitious when studying Buddhism?

This is layman Wang’s own account of his true experience from superstition to learning Buddhism:

I recall sitting on the back of my father’s bicycle when I was a teenager. Suddenly, an unexpected pleasure came from my lower body. From that point on, in order to experience such a special feeling, I started masturbating. My grades started to decline and I was always in a daze during class, unable to concentrate, thinking about things I shouldn’t be thinking about, and my academic performance dropped from the top to the middle.

Looking more and more ugly

My appearance became increasingly unattractive. When I was in high school, I weighed 70 kilograms, and my appearance could be described as ugly. My body also became very weak, I often caught colds, and my lips were always pale and colorless. For this reason, aunts often remind my mother that if your daughter is anemic, she should go to the hospital for a checkup. I went to the hospital for a checkup and found that the hemoglobin was still higher than normal! My mother always thought that my physical weakness was due to lack of nutrition during her pregnancy, so she always tried her best to increase my nutrition, but my physical condition still remained unchanged.

The consequences of masturbation

Now I understand that this is all caused by masturbation, which drains out all the energy and energy. How can I be healthy? The problem of masturbation started occasionally and became more frequent as age and greed increased, and retribution naturally followed. I didn’t get into college after graduating from high school. My parents used their hard-earned salary to send me to a private full-time university to take the self-study exam.

Can’t find a good job

After graduating from college, my job was not going well. I couldn’t find a satisfactory job, and even if I found one, the salary was not high. At this time, I began to “believe” in Buddhism, but I knew nothing about Buddhism. Belief without reason was also superstitious. I only know how to burn incense and kowtow in the temple and ask for blessings from Buddhas and Bodhisattvas, but I don’t know how to truly learn Buddhism and practice it.

Lifelong event

As I get older, my parents become increasingly concerned about my long-term plans. However, I have been on blind dates many times, but they always end abruptly. Because my childhood was surrounded by noisy parents, and my relationship with my father was very tense, I hoped to find a like-minded Buddhist husband as a husband, so I went to the temple to kowtow and burn incense and blindly seek blessings from Buddhas and Bodhisattvas.

Man appears

It didn’t take long for this man to show up. He was doing business in other places. Although my family reminded me that we were too far away from each other and the living environment was different… But I felt that as long as he believed in Buddhism, he must be a good person. In fact, I don’t even know what is good or bad. In the following years, I sacrificed a lot for this so-called “Buddha disciple”. The bitterness of it cannot be explained clearly in a few words. However, the final result was even more surprising. Before he met me, he had a history of adultery for many years, caused women to have abortions, and had a failed marriage.

His qigong master

Bodhisattvas fear causes, and sentient beings fear consequences. It was this failed marriage that made him “believe” in Buddhism and accept a qigong master as his teacher. From then on, he believed that the qigong master was a living Buddha, and superstitiously used his master’s various deeds to promote the so-called Dharma, many of which were very questionable. . For example: the master did not let his disciples read the scriptures, saying that if they did not understand it, it would be better not to read it; some disciples made a special trip abroad to meet the master, and the master uttered arrogant words: Anyone who comes here to see him will become an Arhat immediately! His master used some magical powers to help people treat illnesses, and many disciples across the country followed him to learn the XX skills he invented. As long as it is a health product developed by Master, everyone is eager to buy it. There are also disciples who are jealous of Master, or are greedy for money, so they work in Master’s company to make money. If you sow bad results, the results will naturally not be good. Finally, this qigong master who was regarded as a living Buddha by his disciples fled to the United States around 1999. He has been married four times and has four sons.

Domestic disciples are still producing and selling health care products, including aphrodisiac products. Anyone who studies the Dharma knows that aphrodisiac products encourage people to do lustful things, which is a serious sin that creates karma! At that time, both of us were ignorant and committed many sexual misconducts. We even committed crimes in the temple when we went to Mount Putuo to burn incense, and even had an abortion.

We broke up

But we ended up breaking up, causing a lot of harm to each other, and karma is real. The reason for the breakup was that he continued to engage in sexual immorality outside the home, while I had encountered the true Dharma and took refuge in the Three Jewels. I had moved from superstition to the path of learning Buddhism with true faith. I began to recite the Ksitigarbha Sutra, repented of my bad karma, and firmly believed in the real existence of cause and effect. I began to reflect on what I had done, and after some heartbreaking and painful thinking, I chose to break up with him. (I want to emphasize that it’s not that Bodhisattva doesn’t protect me, but that birds of a feather flock together and people flock together. I am still doing evil myself, how can I expect Bodhisattva to arrange a virtuous and talented man for me? What qualifications do I have? What about getting a good man as your husband? Everything is your own fault!)

Demon disciple

I read “Record of Modern Cause and Effect” written by Teacher Guo Qing from my master. I was immediately drawn to the story of cause and effect in the book and read it in one sitting, as if I had found a treasure.

Among them, the article “Let’s Talk About Supernatural Powers Again” deeply moved me. Wasn’t the demon disciple the same person I encountered in the book? The classics of Buddhas , Bodhisattvas, and good teachers gave me a pair of wise eyes. I no longer felt confused or hesitated, and I ended the relationship rationally.

Buddhist disciples must read the Shurangama Sutra

Therefore, Buddhist disciples must read the fifty kinds of evil demons and the four clear instructions on determining purity in the Shurangama Sutra! You will be deeply impressed by the great wisdom of Sakyamuni Buddha, thereby improving your own wisdom and making accurate judgments and rational decisions about various people and phenomena in modern society! Nowadays, with such a dignified appearance, people feel that they are boss-like, rich, and well-spoken. In addition, there are many men who say that they believe in Buddhism. Many women will be deceived by this illusion.

Little do they know that when his true behavior far violates moral standards, no matter how extravagant his words are and no matter how rich he is in his pocket, it is just a false mask! Buddhism reveals the truth of human life, and its most basic content is: the law of cause and effect! Buddhism points out that the root cause of all suffering is human greed, anger, ignorance, pride, and doubt, as well as the endless sins created by body, speech, and mind. If you don’t sow good causes, how can you get good results? Having sown evil causes, it is impossible to escape the evil consequences. Therefore, we must quickly abandon evil and pursue good, firmly believe in cause and effect, observe the five precepts and practice the ten good deeds, sow good causes and reap good results! I hope that more people will no longer be deceived by propaganda that goes against human nature in modern society, stop being superstitious, and quickly look back to recognize the truth of life. Even if billions of thousands of kalpas, your work will not be destroyed, and when the causes and conditions converge, you will receive the retribution!

Tip: Buddhist disciples take refuge in the Buddha, Dharma, and Sangha in order to learn the Buddha’s right knowledge and views, and to follow the teachings, not to seek blessings or supernatural powers everywhere. Practitioner Wang’s personal experience tells everyone: To learn Buddhism, you must work hard from the heart, get rid of all kinds of greed, anger, ignorance, pride, etc., change evil into good, and strictly observe the precepts to truly benefit.

Sharing this article is Dharma giving. The Buddha said that Dharma giving has immeasurable merits.
