Eye disease and floods flood Jinshan Temple

In July 1997, Ms. Zhu from a certain university, accompanied by her husband, came to Mount Wutai to worship Buddha. By chance, they heard that the old monk Miaofa was very spiritual, so they made an appointment to come and ask for advice.

Ms. Zhu is about thirty-two or three years old, with a medium build, good looks, fair complexion, a pair of gold mirrors on the bridge of her nose, and the elegant demeanor of a female scholar. Ms. Zhu said that her eyes have been bad since she was a child. She always has a burning sensation and a dull pain from time to time. For these eyes, my parents worked hard and spent countless money, but to no avail. Later, when she went to the United States to study, she also sought medical treatment everywhere, but there was still no cure.

After Ms. Zhu told Master about the condition of her eyes, Master closed her eyes slightly, leaned a little, and told an interesting story that even I couldn’t believe.

Master asked: “Do you know the legendary story of the White Snake flooding Jinshan Temple?”

We replied: “Yes, I saw this play when I was a child, and I also watched the movie later.”

Master said: “People think this is just a made-up myth, but it actually happened in history. It is not surprising that some animals will develop so-called supernatural powers after years of practice. The white snake turned into the White Snake because of her practice. During the process, lust cannot be eradicated, and one may go astray and insist on pursuing the love between man and woman in the world. However, the laws of nature do not allow such incestuous behavior of human and animal intercourse. Even if civilization is highly advanced and concepts are rapidly updated, Today, it is also not tolerated by social ethics. Monk Fahai in “The Legend of White Snake” stopped White Snake out of great compassion, because if White Snake did not immediately stop this incestuous behavior and deeply repent, it would destroy her. After many years of Taoism, she fell into hell. Pressing the White Snake under the Leifeng Pagoda actually made her think about her mistakes and practice in seclusion to help her eliminate her lustful thoughts. “The Legend of the White Snake” tried its best to slander the Dharma and the monk. The story puts compassion into The Buddhist monk Fahai was made up to be a demon, and the Buddha and Bodhisattva were so unreasonable that they broke up the perfect love in the world. He also made the demons and evil spirits extremely humane, but ignored the fact that there is a fundamental difference between humans and animals. The author confuses good and evil and misleads Public, slandering Buddhism is based on cause and effect. People with a discerning eye will understand right and wrong at a glance.

Why am I telling you this story? Because Ms. Zhu’s eye disease is related to this story; it is also her virtue of chanting Buddha’s name and upholding Buddhism that makes her worthy of her karma. “

“‘Water Floods Jinshan Temple’ tells the story of the White Snake and the Green Snake who did not listen to the advice of the old monk Fahai. Instead, they fought with him and used evil spells to mobilize the water god to cause trouble and flood the Jinshan Temple. At that time, the water god was ignorant and helped the evil deeds, causing the water to flood the temple. , which angered the guardian god. The god struck the water god with thunder and lightning. When the fireball was about to hit the water god’s face, the agile water god quickly sank into the water and escaped with his life. However, his eyes were burned by the lightning and the pain was unbearable. The water god The subordinates of the Water God bandaged the eyes of the Water God with white silk, and escorted her to a small temple on another mountain to seek help from a monk who had the skills to cure diseases. When the Water God removed the white silk that blindfolded her eyes, the monk who had been practicing for many years was killed by the Water God. I was stunned by the beauty and fell in love with her. With a single thought, my power disappeared and the disease could not be cured. The water god in the story is the current Ms. Zhu. This is the past life cause of your eye disease in this life, Ms. Zhu. Your husband today He is the monk who saw the water god and moved his heart. Does he like you very much and take care of you? “

The words of the old monk Miaofa made everyone excited, and they all looked at the couple. Ms. Zhu, who had been listening to Master Miao’s story, seemed extremely excited, as if she was re-examining her husband. She smiled affectionately and said, “Yes, he always takes care of me like a child.”

Her husband looked a little uncomfortable, pursed his lips and smiled, lowered his head and said nothing.

Master then said to Ms. Zhu: “Wait a minute, both of you and your wife are going to the main hall to repent of your past karma. Although the flooding of Jinshan Temple was not the Water God’s original intention, he became an accomplice out of ignorance. The sin is not small! You must worship more in the future. “Liang Huang’s Precious Confession” and “Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva’s Original Vow Sutra” are often recited, and your eyes will definitely be healed.”

Master then looked at Ms. Zhu’s husband and said, “Originally, you are an old practitioner with a very good foundation, but every time you come to the world, you can’t let go of your lustful thoughts, and your efforts fall short. In this life, you two will renew their relationship and become husband and wife. What’s more, you must Let’s work together to cultivate morality, concentration, and wisdom diligently in this life, and achieve supreme Bodhi. You may not believe the stories I tell you, but as long as you go back and repent sincerely as I said, it will be effective.”

A week later, Ms. Zhu and his wife came to visit the old monk Miaofa again. As soon as I met her, I saw that her eyes were bright and clear, the bloodshot eyes on the whites were gone, and she looked radiant. She said that although they were doubtful about the story told by Master, they decided to repent as if it were the truth. Unexpectedly, when she confessed in front of the Buddha, a cool feeling entered her eyes. She had never had such a comfortable feeling in her eyes since she was a child. She really felt the blessing of the Buddha’s power and firmly believed that the story told by Master was true. Her husband was also deeply shocked, and the two of them read and recited the Ksitigarbha Sutra in the hotel that night and repented of their sins. When they opened their eyes in the morning, they were pleasantly surprised that there was no burning sensation in their eyes. As a result, the two of them read and recited the Ksitigarbha Sutra every day and repented of their sins more devoutly. Now her eyes are completely healed and the time has come to return to Taiwan. She came here to express her gratitude and farewell to Master. She also said that she would take time to worship “The Repentance of Emperor Liang” every day after returning to Taiwan.

She said she still had a problem for her teacher: “If someone asks me after I go back how my eyes were cured, how should I answer? I can neither say which hospital cured my eyes, nor can I truthfully say that I was cured in my previous life. In “The Legend of White Snake”, the water flooded the Jinshan Temple and was the water god who started the flood. If you say that, it would be strange if they didn’t treat me as mentally ill!” Those few words made everyone present laugh.

Master said: “It’s very simple. It can be cured by worshiping Buddha and chanting sutras in Mount Wutai.”

When Master told this story, I was not without some doubts in my heart, even though I believed 100% in Master. Because since I was a child, I have heard adults say that “The Legend of White Snake” is just a legend. How did it become true? Now there was another water god reincarnated, and it was right before my eyes. But the results a few days later could not but dispel my doubts. Ms. Zhu’s eye disease has really recovered!

At that time, there were probably no more than six or seven people who knew about it. I hope that one day when Ms. Zhu reads this book, she will not be angry with me. Although I used a pseudonym to talk about this, after all, I revealed her secret without her consent. If this story can help fellow practitioners gain a better understanding of Buddhism and cause and effect, this merit should belong to both the couple. I wish them to realize the holy fruit soon.

Here I also hope that some great virtuous person or layman with high literary level will rewrite “The Legend of White Snake” from a Buddhist perspective and add the story of the reincarnation of the Water God. If anyone wants to know more about the White Snake, the Green Snake, and Xu Xian We might as well turn to the old monk Miaofa and turn it into a TV series, like the “Reincarnation of Love” filmed in Taiwan about Master Yulin. It will not only look good, but also educate people, and at the same time it will rectify the name of the old monk Fahai. This is a matter of immeasurable merit. As for the origin of Monk Fa Hai, who he is and which Buddha and Bodhisattva he is, I will leave it to you when I have the opportunity to talk about it later!

Sharing this article is Dharma giving. The Buddha said that Dharma giving has immeasurable merits.
