Make the best use of everything
“Amitabha! Master, we are Buddhists who have come to China for sightseeing. The lady next to me cannot speak Chinese well, so she asked me to ask questions on her behalf. She said that she also had stomach problems, and medication did not work, but she did not waste food. Please Master advises.”
The old monk Miaofa looked at this distant female disciple kindly and said: “It’s good that you don’t waste food, but you waste paper. When you write something, as long as you feel dissatisfied with a certain sentence, or a letter is not written well, You will ball up the paper and throw it into the wastebasket. Furthermore, you waste a lot of napkins when you eat. One napkin is enough for a meal, but you use one every time you wipe your mouth or hands. A napkin is really a waste. Make the best use of it and don’t waste it. If you know your mistake and change this bad habit, your stomach problem will be cured.”
The female layman nodded repeatedly.
I would like to dedicate this merit to the original author, the protagonist of the story, and all readers. I wish you all health and safety, increased blessings and wisdom, and realize Bodhi as soon as possible.
