What is the meaning of Namo Avalokitesvara?
Namo, pronounced na mo, is the transliteration of the Sanskrit name गृहम्. It means seeking refuge.
“Guan” means observation,
“Shi” means the world.
“Yin” means sound.
In Sanskrit, the term “बोधिसत्त्व” is also abbreviated as “Bodhisattva.

The Dharani Sutra of Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva with Thousand Arms and Thousand Eyes, the Vast, Perfect and Unobstructed Great Compassionate Heart, records: “The Buddha said: ‘This Bodhisattva is called Avalokitesvara, also known as Twisted Suo, and also known as Eyes of Thousand Lights. Good man! This Bodhisattva Avalokitesvara, Incredibly majestic power, in the past countless kalpas, he has become a Buddha, called the Tathagata of Righteous Dharma Clarity, and with the power of great compassionate vows, he has appeared as a Bodhisattva in order to arouse all Bodhisattvas and bring peace and happiness to all sentient beings.
Translation
Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva has been a Buddha for countless kalpas in the past, and his name is “True Dharma Ming Tathagata. With great compassion and vows, he showed the image of a Bodhisattva, rode a Cihang upside down, and entered Saha again to save all living beings.

It is said that Guanshiyin Bodhisattva has great mercy, rescues suffering, and has great inspiration.
Sincerely recite Namo Guanyin Bodhisattva
To pray to Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva for protection or help, we must sincerely recite “Namo Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva” and telepathy will occur. When Guanshiyin Bodhisattva hears cries for help from all sentient beings, he will surely come to their rescue and alleviate their suffering. But if you are not sincere when you recite it, and if it is mixed with seeking fame and fortune, you won’t be able to feel it.
When we recite the holy name of “Namo Guanyin Bodhisattva,” we must purify our hearts and recite it with sincerity. Don’t think for selfish desires, but think for all the sentient beings in the evil world of five turbidities. Please pray for the mercy of Guanshiyin Bodhisattva, so that all people around the world can avoid disasters, eliminate sins, and be blessed, and all can benefit.
